IGAS Energy

Despite the best efforts of the rent-a-mob protesters, shale gas is coming to the UK. Although we certainly need to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions, the first step is to switch from oil and coal to gas, and then from imported gas to locally produced gas. Apart from not having to rely for our energy supplies on Russia and the Middle East, shale gas can bring huge economic and social benefits as we have seen in the US. Igas Energy has been operating in the UK for many years as a conventional producer of on-shore oil and on that basis is a profitable company with a p/e of about 6. However, it also has licences for exploration for shale gas in some of the best areas of the UK and has had some very promising results recently:
https://www.google.es/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1090344/shale-gas-found-UK-nottinghamshire-fracking-Barnby-Moor-Ineos-IGas-Energy/amp
“The findings at the site in Tinker Lane near Barnby Moor are equivalent to a trillion dollars-worth of gas, significantly higher than at one of the biggest fracking locations in the US”. Tom Pickering, chief operating officer of Ineos Shale, said the findings could be "significant" and "transformational for the UK economy" Express.

Igas is backed by Ineos and Total and IMO has a very promising future. It should be a good investment for shareholders and the country. After falling back in the last few months, the present price of 80p is a bargain IMO. I hold shares.

Any chance of any actual numbers that we can run through the investment calculator? There's not much to see on that link.

dspp, I can only point you to Igas's web site https://igasplc.com/ where apart from information on their oil reserves and how fracking works there is a recent trading update and an operational update - the latter being the trigger for the Express article. Otherwise I just look at 'This is Money' or 'Digital Look'. The Bowland Shale gas reservoir is one identified by the British Geological Survey as potentially enormous. Of course it all depends on how accessible as a commercial venture.

Good results from the test drilling:
Operational Update - Springs Road Well RNS Number : 4238S 11 March 2019
"Significant advancement in UK Shale prospectivity - over 250 metres of hydrocarbon bearing shales encountered
IGas is pleased to announce an update regarding the SR-01 well at Springs Road in North Nottinghamshire.
Further to our announcement on 15 February 2019, we have now encountered a hydrocarbon bearing shale sequence of over 250 metres, including the upper and lower Bowland Shale. Significant gas indications were observed throughout the shale section and additionally within sands in the Millstone Grit sequence.
A video showing some recovered core from the well effervescing gas when immersed in water can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/dnZDrTLWiyQ and on the website at http://www.igasplc.com"

This promises to be a huge benefit to the UK, comparable to Norths Sea Gas.

A good interview with IGas CEO, Steve Bowler. Each gas pad/well could generate enough gas for half a million Homes, 60 could reduce UK gas imports by 50% with tremendous benefits to the balance of payments and the currency. Also the conventional on-shore oil has a long-term future and further development potential with cost at $30 a barrel.
