Re: Digitallook on the move
If you look at the header notice at the start of http://www.digitallook.com, it says that "As a first step in the transition to the new site, over coming days and weeks the news and data pages on Digitallook.com will redirect you towards the new website ...". That says pretty clearly to me that moving stuff to the new site is something they're doing in stages, so it seems likely that moving existing portfolios is simply a stage they haven't reached yet. And as it isn't moving news, nor moving data in the sense I think they mean (*), it's probably some way off yet.
Hopefully that makes more sense of what's happening.
(*) Moving any information is moving data as a computer scientist would see it, but I think they are using it in a more restricted sense of moving information about investments.

Thanks for your input Gengulphus. Hopefully that is the case. I have changed my email address since our move to Orkney, so that may not have helped. I'm sure it'll all work out.

Re: Digitallook on the move
Further to my previous links to access your Portfolio and Watchlists, I have found some new links that may be of interest.
First, the original Digitallook home page can now be found alive and well at http://finance.digitallook.com
Second, the overview of your portfolio and/or watchlist valuation(s) is at http://finance.digitallook.com/portfoli ... _investing
All the original DL format share pages can be seen by adding 'finance.' to the beginning of their url. In fact, if you open your portfolio or watchlist with these revised links (or sign in at finance.digitallook.com) you will goto to the DL quotes pages instead of the WebFG one when you click on any share quote link in your portfolio/watchlist.
Portfolio: http://finance.digitallook.com/cgi-bin/ ... rname=&ac=
Watchlist: http://finance.digitallook.com/cgi-bin/ ... =valuation
If at any time you find yourself being redirected to a WebFG equivalent page when you click a link, click 'Back' to the page you came from and make sure its url starts with finance... rather than www....

Bree
I have been successfully using the link you posted above but unfortunately even with finance as the prefix I keep getting redirected. Is anyone else having any better success than me?
Many thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Digitallook on the move
I have just seen the other Digital Look thread and using the advice there and importantly clicking on the login button in the top R I am happily back in action. Please ignore my last post and a BIG THANK YOU to BREE.

You're very welcome.

Just to make it clear, the situation is that since Friday 1st. my previous links in this thread now get diverted to the WebFG/Sharecast login page.
The only known way to gain access to your portfolio/watchlists is to go to http://finance.digitallook.com/ and use the Login button, top right, to sign in.

Re: Digitallook on the move
Thank you, Breelander, but what is going on? I have had no notice of this change and when I try to log in to the Share Cast site with my DL data I am rejected. Don't they want visitors/customers? Without your help I should have lost my portfolio info. Fortunately I moved to This is Money last year after continuing problems with DL, but do occasionally look at it as TiM doesn't always seem to have correct data.

I think WebFG would like to turn off DL but can't. DL's financial data services are provided (for a fee) to various brokers and embedded in their site as if it were their own data (Morningstar provides similar services to other brokers). I'm not sure, but I suspect some brokers may use the portfolio and/or watchlist functions.
Then there are also individual paying customers for DL's Research++ service.
http://finance.digitallook.com/research_plusUpgrade to Research Plus from as little as £20 a month!
Use Research Plus to explore what is really going on in the markets. Research Plus members have access to live prices, streaming charts and unlimited Level 2 real-time data...
Presumably the finance... url is there to allow that to continue, while diverting new users to WebFG/Sharecast.
For how much longer it will continue to work I cannot guess. I already run an FT portfolio in parallel for the day it may cease to exist.

I haven't tried to access my DL portfolio for a few weeks but have just tried and find that it doesn't recognise my sign on details. What the heck do I do now?

You have to go to the finance.digitallook site, not the www one. Go here: http://finance.digitallook.com/
Click on the Login button at the top right. Fill in your DL name and password and click login. You can then get to your portfolio by clicking Portfolio on the blue bar across the top.
I don't know how much longer this way in will work, but I've just checked and it still works today.

I have already prepared for the day DL stops working by setting up a parallel portfolio on FT.com. If you have not already done so, it would be best to copy your list of holdings to a spreadsheet using the method we discussed here:

Grateful thanks, Bree. I managed it this time. Next question: How do I make more hours in the day? Unfortunately, I don't do spreadsheets.

Great!
....Unfortunately, I don't do spreadsheets.
Well, at least copy your list of holdings and quantities into a text file, perhaps the transactions statement too. It will look a bit untidy, but at least you'll have some sort of record should you need to recreate the portfolio on another platform.

I do keep a history of all the transactions on my computer. It's just an instant current valuation I need, which I print out from time to time. I'l email it to myself to be going on with and see if I can get one of my sprogs to do the necessary as regards setting it up elsewhere. Easier said than done, however as they lead such busy livers. You must remember I have come very late to computers and my knowledge is very limited.

Re: Digitallook on the move
Just to mention DL Portfolios seem to be in 'let's duplicate your entries' mode again and leaving data entries on various pages out of synch, along with nonsense totals.
