We'll done Liverpool!

Probably the worst European final in history but history won't record what the game was like.

Any Spanish in the crowd must have wondered how on earth these two teams managed to get into the final. It was one of the poorest games seen on TV for a long while.

Absurd that Spurs were even playing.

There should be a CL rule that if you haven’t won your domestic league in the past 50 years you’re ineligible.

So, so happy for Klopp....

There's no way such a good manager should have no silverware to show off.

Not a bad first Cup to put in the cupboard Jurgen.....

Must be to encourage people to pay :)

You're not missing much.

Hope it gets better as a spectacle even if i'm happy with the current score.

As a neutral I thought it was an insult to the CL. I gave up and went off to do something else early in the second half and when I returned nothing had happened to the score line and them at least Liverpool got one over the line from open play. It would have been tragic if Liverpool had won on the basis of that penalty, but it really was truly awful.

About as bad as Aussie rules football.

It wasn't a brilliant match, and anyone that watched it would be pushed to think otherwise, but I think the above is going too far in all honesty.

Any UK football fan will known that Liverpool aren't known for 'managing games' very well at all, especially when they've got the lead, but if last night's match is a lesson in how they must learn to do that, well, it wasn't a bad way to start....

I wonder if they did intend to 'manage' the game. Klopp is not exactly Mourinho is he?

The final can surely be expected to be like say the derby games between the two Manchester teams, but this was a dismal 90 minutes. Best league in the world? I think both teams surely had some sort of responsibility to show English league football at its best. As it was, as I said, it was like Aussie rules football or watching paint dry.

I guarantee you that if Spurs had won that game then they would not give a flying crap that the game was marginally unentertaining, which it was.

The reality is that LFC were crap but Spurs didnt even show up, so they lost. Overwhelmed by the occasion, no doubt.

All the excitement you could ever want was in the semi's.

It wasn't just marginally unentertaining, it was bloody awful.

But if I was a Liverpool fan, I wouldn't care either.

The Liverpool players didn't seem to be analysing the match-performance too much either....

https://old.reddit.com/r/LiverpoolFC/comments/bvqngy/allez_allez_allez/

The video loads with the sound muted, so it needs toggling on....

Please be aware that there's some swearing in the song, but it's a great view into that Liverpool changing-room after the game.....

So happy for Ox after his recent long-term injury - really looking forward to how he performs for us again next season....

It seems that there were a few demonstrations yesterday from some football fans, clearly wanting to know why there was so little entertainment from Saturday's final -

That of course was because of the unusual nature of the occasion for the silverware starved Liverpool fans, nothing to do with the way the final was played.

Whether the site was busy or the connection we were using wasn't up to scratch I don't know, but the buffering was quite frequent and for fairly long periods of time.

It was a blessed relief from having to watch the match to be honest.

Ha ha. As soon as I saw your name come up, I thought you must be making a comment on the fact that the 'porn' streaker was just about the only thing worth watching the match for.

You let me down Snorvey with this techie stuff, which was apparently down to BT recording the game at 30FPS whereas their YouTube channel could only stream at 25FPS, meaning that 1 in every 5 frames was repeated. Or something like that.

As a BT Sport subscriber I was in the enviable position of being able to watch one of the most boring finals in history in glorious HD.

Ah, what ever happened to Erica Roe

...she's in her 60's now <gulp>. And that streak was 37 years ago.

I won't link to the pics here as they are definitely NSFW but if you managed to see any of the uncensored ones that were taken of the streaker from the front after she had been captured, you will notice that the bottom half of said swimsuit had mostly 'disappeared' somewhere. :o

What a stupid comment. Why not make it 29 years?

You have to draw the line somewhere! Just seems to me to devalue the European Cup if a team that haven’t been Champions for a lifetime can win it.

Genuine question - I wonder if anyone in Madrid for the game watched Spurs live when they become champions for the last time?

Anyway, you’ve already admitted that you are a Spurs fan so you’re biased. As a Gooner I’m impartial and so can offer a thoughtful and balanced perspective.

Stat of the day:- [expletive deleted] have won the league at WHL as many times as Spurs have.
