Which, in my book, means: "You're probably too stupid to understand the real explanation, but here's a dumbed-down version just for you." Simply will do nicely, thank you.
I recently had a hands-over-my-face moment when one of my colleagues used the overblown S-word in a platform presentation to a roomful of finance people. He didn't notice that they weren't impressed.
