Slightly off main topic but when I switched from Ovo to Octopus last year I noticed (and this was a big part of my decision to switch) the disparity in daily standing charges.
From memory Ovo charged around 27p/day for both gas and electric accounts whilst Octopus were something like 16p/day for gas and 19p/day for electric (or the other-way around, no matter).
The daily standing charge is supposed to cover infrastructure/transportation costs so surely they should be virtually the same whatever company I use.
Can any one explain why the disparity between companies?
