We were off on our travels today - over the sea - not to Skye - but to another Scottish Island
At the port of embarkation we spotted
Helicopter deck at front and heavy crane at the rear. The name should probably identify its use, however on our journey (by CalMac) we sailed past another possession of its owner
and after disembarkation we continued on to
But we failed to spot Miss Hoolie.
Or for those who would prefer a more lucid description - we spotted the Northern Lighthouse Vessel Pharos at its home base in Oban, and sailed across to Craignure on Mull in the Caledonian MacBrayne Car Ferry
Isle of Mull, passing the lighthouse at the bottom end of Lismore. We then drove on to Tobermory - the home of the kid's TV series
Balamory where Miss Hoolie (Julie Nimmo) was the Nursery Teacher.
And a little verse (with many slightly different variations) may indicate what the local populace thought about the (historical)monopoly position once held by MacBraynes (now part of Calmac)
To God belongs the Earth, and all that it contains, except the Western Isles and they belong to MacBraynes
