I think it was posted twice. Probably me with the Sunday morning hangover shakes.

That would be the hampers with champers that did it. I fear it lends credence to Aleister's concern on the slippery slope :)

First one was the right way around, with all the others upside down.

Did you put your sticker on?

Did you know that if you focus on this image for 30 seconds, it'll disappear completely -

The only thing that disappeared for me was 30 seconds of my life....

BUT, if I stare at it long enough, it does disappear, at the same time that my monitor goes on standby

No, but thanks anyway. You've reminded me about my appointment at Specsavers.

Every weekend, the BBC Scotland website https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-53950801 shows a selection of readers' pics of Scotland from the past week. There's usually some really good ones. This week's favourites are of the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glen Coe, and Ben Lomond

Like most Scottish mountains around this time of year, I bet if you stare at it for 30 seconds it's likely to disappear completely....

We were off on our travels today - over the sea - not to Skye - but to another Scottish Island
At the port of embarkation we spotted

Image

Helicopter deck at front and heavy crane at the rear. The name should probably identify its use, however on our journey (by CalMac) we sailed past another possession of its owner

Image

and after disembarkation we continued on to

Image

But we failed to spot Miss Hoolie.

Or for those who would prefer a more lucid description - we spotted the Northern Lighthouse Vessel Pharos at its home base in Oban, and sailed across to Craignure on Mull in the Caledonian MacBrayne Car Ferry Isle of Mull, passing the lighthouse at the bottom end of Lismore. We then drove on to Tobermory - the home of the kid's TV series Balamory where Miss Hoolie (Julie Nimmo) was the Nursery Teacher.

And a little verse (with many slightly different variations) may indicate what the local populace thought about the (historical)monopoly position once held by MacBraynes (now part of Calmac)
To God belongs the Earth, and all that it contains, except the Western Isles and they belong to MacBraynes

It was a sunny Sunday morning, so we stretched our legs for a short ramble along the coast path from Tobermory to the Lighthouse - looking over the Sound of Mull to Ardnamurchan.
Image
We were on the lookout for cetaceans - usually porpoise and dolphins, but had no luck. However a gaggle of gannets gave a diving exhibition.
Then later we drove over the hilly (a severe understatement) road to the hill above Dervaig
Image
That's the Island of Coll on the horizon, and you can just about make out the unusual white pencil tower of Dervaig church in the bottom left hand corner.
https://www.mull-historical-society.co.uk/churches/churches-2/kilmore/
We were hoping to spot Eagles and Sea Eagles which often fly over this spot - but we were out of luck.
However our luck changed in a surprising way when we went out looking for otters - https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=25165

Being able to see or in fact reminded of such wonderful pictures herein just further enhances(well for me anyway) how lucky many are to be living in such a great Country regardless of it's possible failures at times. The natural beauty speaks for itself but brought to life on this Board. Many thx.

I thought it might provide some mild entertainment to have a `Guess The Mystery Object' pic, and here it is:

Any others? The only stipulation is that they must be taken yourself, not nicked off the net!

The plot had baddies who were hi-jacking ships carrying bold bullion, and hiding them by sinking them in the sea lochs. They were operating out of Duart Castle where its rightful owners were being held captive. Since the rightful owner is Sir Lachlan Maclean who served in the SAS, I think most baddies would have given the castle a wide berth :)
But certainly Tobermory has form in regard to sinking ships with gold cargoes. See https://www.scottishhistory.org/articles/tobermory-galleon/
Following their defeat at the hands of the English navy in the summer of 1588, the surviving ships of the Spanish Armada were forced to make their way home around the north and west coasts of Scotland. Several ships were lost along the dangerous coastline in stormy weather. One ship, the San Juan de Sicilia, mysteriously blew up in Tobermory Bay off the Isle of Mull. Many believe that the vessel was carrying a large amount of gold coin.

It's the plastic tray in a packet of biscuits (or chocolates), which somebody has turned upside down in the vain hope of finding another layer of goodies underneath.
