Pension Protection Fund

There seems nowhere satisfactory to put items like this - general, pension related issues - on TLF.

This is interesting, I hadn't considered that a pension fund could leave the pension protection fund.

Steelworkers cheer £2bn pension deal: 30,000 set for retirement boost as insurance firm agrees to buy out the old British Steel Scheme

"The PPF spent more than two years analysing it and in the spring concluded its funding was more robust than expected.

This meant the scheme did not need to stay in the fund and could be taken over by an insurance firm.

But see post by JimJam in Comments on above site, which questions if the fund was in the PPF or just being assessed by them.
