trading212 seems to good to be true?
trading212 seems to good to be true?
Looking at isa for trading212 and it seems too good to be true. It even allows TLT to be held?! am i seeing this to be right? i can buy TLT, hold it in pounds inside an isa?

Re: trading212 seems to good to be true?
Be careful. To be eligible for ISA I believe a foreign fund has to be approved by HMRC, which AFAIK TLT isn't. https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ting-funds
In which case even though seemingly within a ISA it could later be noted to be ineligible and revert to being considered as outside of ISA space, in which case capital gains and dividends will both be taxed as 'income'.
a.k.a. too good to be true IMO ... even though trading212 might seemingly permit such holdings as-is.

Thanks for the reply. I have never thought about the idea the hmrc may blame me?! Wouldnt they take it out on the platform? also the excel file you shared did not have TLT, but it also did not have IDTG.
IDTG is offered within isa by others as shown here:
https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-sear ... etf-hedged
https://www.ii.co.uk/etfs/ishares-treas ... d-analysis
Both of these mark IDTG as isa suitable.
An additional question, is there an isa suitable version of EDV?

Firstly, it would be more likely for people to comment if you said what "TLT" is, rather than just assuming everyone will know (or have the inclination to try and look it up).
I assume from 1invest's reply that it's a foreign domiciled fund, and infer from your "IDTG" comment that it's a foreign ETF.
There's an explanation of eligibility for ISAs at https://the-international-investor.com/investment-faq/funds-etfs-eligible-held-isa
And if you really want to get the details there's https://www.gov.uk/guidance/stocks-and-shares-investments-for-isa-managers
However, there's a good chance, if it's a US ETF, that it doesn't have a Key Information Document (KID), in which case it can't be offered by UK brokers at all, in or out of an ISA. https://www.justetf.com/uk/news/etf/us-domiciled-etfs.html
As for IDTG, it's available 'cos it's listed in London. https://www.londonstockexchange.com/stock/IDTG/ishares/company-page

Maybe you are being silly, I would not know, but as mc2fool as said you are being very unhelpful. Writing in acronyms is all very well if they are commonly known and understood but for TLT and IDTG it would have been helpful to have spelled out the full name at least first time.

I did not know what the correct practice was and assumed that writing the tracker would be a clean way to communicate. ill fill in more details next time.
