Ok, I'm doing the "youtube" thing tonight.
So here is a great song from, I think the 80's.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PDmZnG8KsM
But I can't post without what others might view as a strange music link.
How about some 60's mainstream pop song about us anarchists
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lgBM4JSKEA
Or a more recent, and somewhat more cheerful version.

Re: Just Some Nice Music Thread Here...Post it Here...
Apart from the Beatles where I virtually know every word sung plus the usual favourites, I rarely listen to the words sung, more the tune, or rather pick up individual lyrics along the way if I truly enjoy it. Bad habit of mine and wonder how many of us do the same, but have noticed that over the years I have started to listen far more carefully and then the other night I heard this, without having the benefit of seeing the video below.
The words coming from the radio were/are beautiful. I had heard the opening "Starry, Starry Night", hundreds of times, lovely tune and all that, but decided to actually listen to every word for once. Wasn't quite sure what he was talking about until it all clicked. Vincent! Perhaps I'm the only ignoramus who only just for the first time ever, truly appreciated what this song is all about as never listened to anything meaningful past Starry Night. Was told at school, has high potential, just needs to pay more attention to achieve it!! Dear me. Taken a long time.

This may bring back memories for some. The whole album here but "White Bird" is the first track.
Takes me back...

Blimey, haven’t heard this since the Round House days, sitting cross legged smoking something amidst the fumes of incense everywhere and watching very strange people plus weird bubbles appear on the screen. On reflection, it was a tough time personally for me but some of the best music ever. Flower Power and trousers that were cool at the time but look ridiculous now.
Yes, memories…

Re: Just Some Nice Music Thread Here...Post it Here...
Silly question here.
I love music that already exists. The problem is that to some extent new music stopped in the 90's.
Of course it didn't at all. It's just the likes of "Top of the pops" was dropped from TV and I stopped listening to R1 as the DJ's became too much to put up with.
So how do I refresh my music tastes?
Please understand that this is not a comment upon what went before, which I love. I just want some new stuff as well.

Try the Spotify "song radio" from something you like and follow it
- great way of finding things you've forgot or never heard of

Knew nothing about this group, Lucius, just stumbled across them a couple of days ago and really enjoyed this performance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLKNGNC1w3M
Lucius - Dusty Trails - 1/27/2016 - Paste Studios, New York, NY
There's several versions of it and I like them all.

An article in the Guardian today about Jake Thackray, who I can just about remember from my childhood, encouraged me to listen to some of his songs. Talented and rather unappreciated.

Hahaha... student days when at the student union jukebox this could be on 5 times in a row, 20 times in an evening, seemingly forever. Always so earnest, you had to close your eyes and nod along, silently impassioned. Every. Single. Time. It. Played. Thank gawd I was into alt music instead
[To be clear, I appreciate that music is personal, sometimes very much so. This isn't criticism or similar, just how I in gnarly student days remember the song]

Possibly because he was focused on the live audiences and the subversive-wit brigade, rather than on TV fame. Jake used to perform at our local folk club - a proper den of iniquity and subversion, that place! - and although he was accustomed to bigger (theatre) audiences than us, he was always warm and friendly, and amazingly funny. I had a fair few beers with him.
Much of his best material, such as The Gorilla, was borrowed from the French singer Georges Brassens, who also had an evil wit. Described by French fans as France's Bob Dylan, which seems a little over the top, because Dylan wasn't often deliberately funny.

Yes, I find it difficult to listen to due to overexposure. Falls into the same category (for me) as Bohemian Rhapsody and Stairway.. (and I love Led Zep, but never listen to that song )

Certainly falls in to that category for me also - which is probably why it seemed such a good choice for "that scene" in Kingsman.

'Waynes World ('92) - No stairway, denied'
Oh it was 'more than a feeling' [geddit] to be satirised by even Waynes World'.

Seen them a few times and they were pretty good live but...
the best from Scotland? ...ever?
Probably not.
That would be the Jesus and Mary Chain

Surely not really from Oz? The Youngs and Bon left before they were even double digit!
