That's great to hear obviously but has left me confused as the Galliford Try website shows as i posted. Is there a special dividend? Can anyone explain please.

I think you've been looking at the Dividend History page (your 56p being for November 2016 not 2017):

To see the 64p you need to look elsewhere. Such as here:

Extract:

"Resolution 4 – Declaration of dividend

The directors are recommending a final dividend of 64.0 pence per ordinary share, payable on 22 November 2017 to holders on the register as at 27 October 2017. The final dividend will not be paid without shareholder approval and the amount may not exceed the amount recommended by the directors."
