I use Google Maps a lot. I've noticed that recently the street view is very sluggish - takes ages to rotate the view or move along a road.
The map view is fine, no change. My broadband speed is unchanged, I checked.
Any ideas??

Re: Slow Google Maps/street view?
It was normal enough for me just now. So perhaps if it isn’t the connection, but is still slow then the Task Manager can shed some light on what is tying up the CPU time?

Task manager looks 'normal' and other stuff is OK (apart from posting on lemonFool which is slow, but that's a general problem I think)

Re: Slow Google Maps/street view?
I did a bit of Googling - one post recommended turning OFF Use Hardware Acceleration When Available in Chrome/settings/advanced
It seems to work - almost back to normal
Seems counter-intuitive - turning off an 'acceleration' option to speed things up...no idea what that option does/means/affects

Re: Slow Google Maps/street view?
I find that using Firefox on Google Street View, the response time gradually slows down, until I've had enough when I shut down and restart Firefox. Unfortunately, the shutdown response is also degraded to such an extent that on occasion. I end up doing a forced switch off.
I have noticed that under these conditions, the hard disk light appears to be permanently lit. I have also noticed that attempting to look at, or gain access to see what's running is also greatly slowed down.
FWIW, I'm on Linux Mint, and it's been like this for a long time, possibly years, and it doesn't happen on anything else, ie it's Google StreetView only. It's almost as if there is a build-up of something such that the computer is having to do ever more work.
Incidently, I have the option ticked that allows Firefox to choose its own performance settings.
