London Lemon Fool Social - pick your best day(s) 30/31
First ever TLF Social at The Clachan, just off Regent St
Initial decision was 30 March but there is some support for the Friday (mainly from Chris!)
Which nights can you do ? (You can select both if you want, but I don't want to over-complicate with transferable votes etc ! )
Please don't select "Neither" and one of the dates....

I might have voted for a Social on both nights, had that been an additional option.

Pah, I was in a hurry. It works ...
I would do both - just carry on drinking.
Bollogs to work... What's work ever done for me eh? Apart from give me beer money

In general, I'd say that Fridays are worse because people like to go away on week-ends, or have a country house, or "work at home" on Fridays, or just don't want to deal with the drunks on the train thing (unless of course you are the drunk on the train).
But as it happens I am not available on either date and so, despite the fact that I happen to know that Mel wants to throw a pint of beer over me, I cannot attend, and so have no opinion.

Yeah, sorry, I was editing as you were replying.
Perhaps Chris or other Friday nighters should start a new second Social thread to see how a separate, perhaps April/May, Friday night do might go. Can't say I'd want to West End it or even go to The City on a Friday but if it means Stooz and others can meet up then ...

At central London prices?
I'm sure she'd think of something cheaper, after a few drinks, and not waste a glass of wine.

We have avoided Fridays so far for the reasons mentioned, although if we get a majority vote for Friday I'll happily turn up !

I can do either (unless I end up moving house that weekend - not very likely though as my assistant is off work so will be telling the solicitor to avoid those dates anyway as I can't take time off). I have put a vote on both, so don't get excited that loads more people are coming, it's still only three of us as far as I can tell - + Chris if we choose Friday.
Those from outside London prefer a Friday as they can take the day off and come down - I work in London so am there anyway most of the time.

I can do either with a mild preference for Thursday solely because London gets so busy on a Friday night. Must be getting old, I used to enjoy the 'buzz' !

I present the Fool social week - runs from Monday to Friday!
In case that idea doesn't take off I've ordered my battle bus with a huge poster on the side "We drink 350 million drinks on Thursdays - Let's drink on Fridays instead"

Thursday is (just) winning at the moment - best step up the campaigning !

Ha ha, yes, I've leafletted half of Tunbridge Wells but to little effect. Oh well. I'll still try and find someone to stand-in for me if/when Thursday wins. C.AleisterCrowley wrote:Thursday is (just) winning at the moment - best step up the campaigning !

Thursday is ahead. We must obey the will of the people. Who will trigger the article....I mean, decide the actual date?

The poll runs until 20th March.
If we haven't got the right answer by then we can demand a re-run - SocialRef2

Or maybe the Tunbridge faction can do their own referendum and split off just before the date?

Quite a few years ago we had a Tunbridge Wells Fool social. Four of us turned up (three Fools plus one Fool's boyfriend). We had dinner in Zapata's then finished off in a pub in The Pantiles. AFAIK there are only three Fools in town now (not even enough at the moment to tip the poll in Thursday's favour). So whilst in principle I'm in favour of independence for Tunbridge Wells I feel to be successful we need to remain part of the Foolish Union.

Well, since the price pf pantiles on the international market took a nosedive I don't think you can afford independence anyway.

Actually this is hauntingly painful for me as the last election I was involved with was a head-to-head against Janet Line(s?) in Bentley Primary School in about 1970. (They were teaching us in a practical way about campaigning and elections.) Anyway, Janet won. May I take this opportunity to congratulate her on a clean and well-fought campaign.

Not at the moment but as we approach PeakPantiles I'm expecting the value of what pantiles we do still have to rise and make indepencence for TW viable*.melonfool wrote:Well, since the price pf pantiles on the international market took a nosedive I don't think you can afford independence anyway.
